We celebrated SFYS’s 17th birthday at Encore Community Services with a lively audience! Jackie Greenspan, Luke Darnell, Nancy Slusser and I sang an eclectic mix of tunes that ranged from Broadway standards to Off-Broadway gems and even Elvis and Dusty Springfield hits! Christopher Zander accompanied us on the piano while Luke strummed his guitar.
Some audience members (including a few staff) couldn’t help but get on their feet and dance. At the end of our session, a senior veteran who had been feeling down came up and thanked us for bringing some joy to his day. Never underestimate the power of music!
