CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH A SONG.
Sing For Your Seniors is a nonprofit organization that enriches lives through the universal language of music by bringing professional performing artists to the communities of seniors in need to entertain, foster intergenerational connection and create shared joy.
Proudly focusing our service to low-income senior communities, LGBTQ+ elders, veterans and those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, SFYS is an eight-time recipient of the Quality of Life grant from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and a member of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
Virtual Sing For Your Seniors Sessions are visits with one or more of our SFYS Artists via Zoom. Each session will include live musical entertainment along with verbal interactive engagement. Schedule a time to connect through the universal language of music!
Sing For Your Seniors Sessions are customized to the particular needs of each facility so we are sure to make meaningful connections with the seniors we serve. With the guidance of a SFYS session leader, our professional performing artists and accompanist share forty-five minutes of songs and stories followed by a fifteen minute “meet & greet” social time, so we can build relationships within each community.
Through our Broadway Sessions, SFYS brings the magic of Broadway to seniors who can’t attend the theater for physical or financial reasons. Thanks to grants from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, we’ve been able to bring cast members from over fifteen productions to seniors all over New York City. When the world shut down during the pandemic, we found a new way to reach our SFYS family via Zoom. The introduction of our Virtual Sessions program allowed us to continue offering music, joy, and connection during times of isolation.
You can write a quick note to a senior! The Actors Fund Home will print them off and share them with their residents. Your message will brighten a senior’s day by reminding them that someone is thinking of them.
Our friends at SAGE have launched SAGEConnect, a way for LGBT folks to stay engaged with the community while homebound during COVID-19. Sign up to either call members of the community or receive a call from a volunteer.
