The audience was very involved and held a surprise for us at this session with 305 West End Assisted Living & Memory Care.
Emily kicked off our session with "Spark of Creation" which got everyone clapping and cheering. Lalo sang a Golden Age tune “Leaning on a Lamp Post.” Everyone enjoyed his bell kick at the end! Danielle’s beautiful version of “My House” brought in even more seniors and staff from other parts of the facility to join our group.
One audience member, Carion, knew every word to many Broadway tunes and goes to see shows all the time. Another audience member, Liane, said WEST SIDE STORY was her favorite, so our wonderful piano player Griffin found the music and accompanied Suzanne in the most gorgeous rendition of “Somewhere.” One of the staff let us know that Liane was actually in the Broadway production of WEST SIDE STORY as the Anita understudy!
Throughout the session, several of the audience closed their eyes and swayed to the music as they conducted us right along. It is such a gift to perform for this group of music and theatre lovers. We can’t wait to go back.
