We were so happy to be back with our friends from Central Harlem Senior Citizens Centers. We were also joined by our friends and family Zooming in from all across the country. For the first time today, seniors from Sunnyside Senior Center Zoomed in as well. They are such a fun and lively group, and we truly love singing for them.
Tiffany got us going with a fabulous “It Don’t Mean a Thing, If You Ain’t Got That Swing.” Luke sang a medley of songs with the same chord progression including “16 Tons” & “Hit The Road Jack.” This led to a discussion about our favorite songs sharing the same chord progressions. We also discussed the visceral reaction to certain pieces of music we can have. As an added bonus, Luke’s very talented wife, Lianne, joined him for a duet of “Hey Good Lookin’” to end the session.
As we were logging off, some of our seniors turned their mics on to thank us. Several audience members returned from the doctor's office or were recovering from surgery. They said this session was the perfect cure to help them relax. One senior from Central Harlem said, “This was wonderful! It brought me back.”
We cannot wait to have another public session with Central Harlem Senior Center, Sunnyside Senior Center, and our friends and family soon!
