We had a very special session with the folks at The Lenox Hill Neighborhood House.
Broadway star, James T. Lane, surprised our seniors. Before the session even started, he joined them in a group dance, and everyone was filled with giddy laughter. James kicked off the session with the uptempo "I Feel My Luck Comin’ Down" from ST. LOUIS WOMAN, which had everyone dancing in their seats. The audience gave wild applause even before the song ended.
Emily kept the energy going with one of her favorites, "Spark of Creation,” and had the audience singing along with "Someone to Watch Over Me."
We were so happy to welcome Carlos back at this session. His gorgeous voice floated through the room during "How Did They Build Titanic?" from TITANIC and "Til' I Hear You Sing" from LOVE NEVER DIES. He had the entire room cracking up from his hysterically heartwarming performance of "Larger Than Life."
We were very thankful to have Jessie perform with us for the first time. The audience fell in love with her sweet stories about each of her songs “A Change in Me” from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” from SOUND OF MUSIC. Several people shared audible “aw’s” and held their hands to their hearts. The seniors were moved by nostalgia as she sang “Where The Boys Are.”
Our seniors loved the wide range of music accompanied by Christopher Zander on the keys.
James continued to dazzle the room with "Rain" from ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. He closed out the set with a beautiful speech of gratitude before singing "Grateful" by John Bucchino. We were all so grateful to have been a part of this session with our seniors at The Lenox Hill Neighborhood House!
