This SFYS session at The SAGE Center brought a variety of styles and entertained our audience of seniors and staff. Shannon got us riled up with “Comedy Tonight” and a silly and impromptu tap dance break during “Before the Parade Passes By.” She thrilled us with “Climb Every Mountain” and offered up the hope that the NYC sky will soon change to “Blue Skies…” Jackie shared some songs on her ukulele, including a baseball themed tune from “A League of Their Own” and continued with nostalgia and sing-along songs like “Rainbow Connection” and a sweet version of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.” Aléna brought in a dose of soul with “Miss Celie's Blues (Sister).” She then shared a rendition of “Someone To Watch Over Me” that had one of the seniors singing along. Finally, the other artists offered up impromptu back up “ah’s” while Aléna amused the audience with some ghost-waltzing with “Once Upon A December.” Our pianist, Christopher Zander, sight read each tune, and improvised some beautiful instrumental sections in a few songs. As always it was an absolute delight to connect with our senior audiences in person and to bring a joy-infused time when the wildfires are keeping a lot of folks inside. Our senior friends at SAGE expressed they can’t wait to have us back, and we feel the same!
